She stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails.

Welcome!

I am a mom of 4, who has an open mind, an obsession with reading the latest scientific research on health and nutrition, and a love of challenging the status quo and looking beyond the obvious.

To make it clear: Despite these ambitious pursuits, I am not a perfect mother. I do not feed my children perfectly healthy food all the time.

I AM A MOM TRYING TO FEED HER KIDS NOURISHING FOODS.

I was raised in the 80’s when most people were unaware of the importance of healthy, wholesome food. I was very sick as a child; ear infections, bronchitis, strep throat, eczema, and asthma plagued me daily. I ended up with multiple food and environmental allergies, all of which have affected my quality of life for years. When I was pregnant with my first child, I was determined not to let her suffer as I have.  I was introduced to the Nourishing Traditions cookbook and my world changed.  Raw milk, soaked grains, grass-fed and pastured meats, and loads of good fat quickly became the norm in my house.

It is very challenging to raise kids in today’s world of quick, processed foods!

My dream is to live on a farm and grow my own food!

I am a wife.

He’s awesome and supports all my silly ideas and horrible recipes.

I AM HEALING FROM BREAST CANCER.

I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer at the age of 37, a few months after delivering my 4th child.  I went through conventional treatment: chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. Cancer treatment left my body exhausted and I am still in the process of healing my body and mind from the past few years. When I was sick, I remember being frustrated with the lack of guidance I received regarding diet and lifestyle changes. This is why I began my journey into the field of nutrition.

I AM A MOVEMENT THERAPIST.

Over a decade ago, my passion for dance and my interest in psychology led me to pursue a master’s degree in dance/movement therapy at Drexel University. Dance/movement therapy is the integration of mind and movement. In the past, I have worked with children with behavioral disorders, as well as children on the autistic spectrum. Although I am taking time off to raise my children, I plan to continue working in the field eventually.

I am a nutritional Therapy Practitioner.

I recently became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association. I believe that we are more than our genes. I believe that our environment and what we put into and onto our bodies have a direct connection to our outcome. The NTA teaches the science behind nutrition and how to nourish and support the body so it can heal on its own. Nutritional Therapists empowers the individual to be responsible for their health. Our bodies are extremely powerful - they just need to be given a chance! The NTA focuses on five foundations that are necessary for true health: digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acid balance, hydration, and mineral balance. Food is truly medicine.

I AM A HOLISTIC HEALTH COACH.

A few years ago, I earned a certification to be a holistic health coach through the School of Integrative Nutrition. Through this innovative program, I studied dozens of dietary theories under some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; and many other leading researchers, wellness and nutrition authorities.

I AM CONTINUING ON MY JOURNEY.

My journey towards health is ongoing as I have had to rebuild my health through diet and alternative treatments.  Over the years, I have met alternative care providers, and discovered natural and organic products that have helped me begin to heal and stay healthy.  This website is a way for me to promote these natural healers, foods, products, and ideas; to take away some of the mystery behind them in the hopes that you and your family will better understand their art and be able to use them when needed.

Warmly,
